Church kneelers at

St John the Baptist

Greenhill, Middlesex

St John the Baptist was consecrated as a church in 1866 and administered as a chapel under the Vicar of Harrow until the Curate was given sole charge in 1885. It became a separate parish in 1896.

In 1904 the Church underwent restoration. Parts of the old building were demolished and a new nave and aisles were added.  Some of the original features remained, including the church’s tower, nicknamed “the candle snuffer” because of its unusual shape.

A transepts was built in 1925 and a new chancel in 1938.
